Planning for your first Camper Van
How long have you been thinking about buying a camper van or a stock van and converting it yourself? If you are like me, it has been a while. Both are great options but will take either a good chunk of time, money or both. And if you are like me saving up that amount of money takes a while. Over time my wants and needs for the “ideal” van have changed too. First, there was the perfect setup for me and the dog. One for us to go play in the woods with some toys and fish/camp for the long weekends. That setup changed after I got married, a little nicer features, and a little less “roughing it”. But was going to still be a fun weekend adventurer. Now with the addition of little kids, we are still looking to figure out what the new ideal setup will be. While we figure it out, now comes the question of how to grow our funds to help afford it.
Investing in a Camper Van Manufacturer
Enter ModVans, a California based company that specializes in building Camper Vans with Popup tops on Ford Transit chassis. They currently are offering six different models and have been expanding their production capabilities over the past few years. To help fund the growth of their company ModVans has utilized Regulation Crowd Funding or Reg CF for short. Initially, Reg CF allowed private companies to raise up to $1 million from the general public per funding round. In 2021 this limit was increased to $5 million per round. ModVans has been very successful historically in raising funds via Reg CF. It has helped them build a loyal fan base as well. They have over 3600 investor’s so far and are currently raising funds again on Wefunder to help with production expansion.
With a min investment of $250 it is an easily accessible price to buy into the company and be an equity shareholder. I’ve found that it’s pretty fun to invest in companies like ModVans and ride along with them on their journey, which is hopefully a positive one for all parties. I’m personally excited to see where they can grow their company too in the future.
General Notes
I’ve invested in them in earlier rounds and again in this round. There are no referral links or kick backs here, I’m just genuinely excited for them and wanted to share the current Reg CF opportunity before its gone. Everyone should do their own research before investing in anything and never invest more than you can afford to lose. With private investments like Reg CF deals your money will be tied up in the deal til the company has a liquidity event which can be several years away.
