This lakefront Vermont cabin was built small because it had to be – new construction in its location on an island in Lake Champlain isn’t allowed to exceed the footprint of existing structures. Vermont Home Design added a double-decker porch on the lake side to augment the sub-300-square-foot main building, which is almost completely filled by a first-floor kitchen and second-floor bedroom.

h/t Tiny House Talk

With those expansive decks and the equally expansive lake views just below them, this is one tiny house that seems destined to host a number of weekend barbecue parties completely out of proportion to its size. (If the owners aren’t feeling that sociable, the bedroom’s twin shed dormers make it a bright and cozy nook for more intimate lakeside recreation.) The build was completed by local outfit Surprenant Construction.
